IF YOU ARE ALREADY A MEMBER PLEASE LOG-IN TO SEE YOUR ANCESTORS
This is the most important page on the site - it's where you enter your ancestors and other relatives who were recorded the census.
We're looking for overlaps between your family tree and the family trees of all our other members, so the more relatives you enter, the sooner you'll be in contact with your 'lost cousins'!
We currently support the 1881 British Census (including England, Scotland, Wales, the Isle of Man,
& the Channel Islands), the 1881 Canadian Census, and the 1880 US Census. We'll add support for censuses from other
countries as they become available online.

Frequently asked questions
Can I upload my family tree as a GEDCOM file?
We don't need your entire family tree to identify the other members who are your cousins - we only need a 'snapshot' of your tree at the time of the census. We aim to match your with your cousins both automatically and accurately - and a small amount of
precise data is far more useful than a large amount of unstandardized information.
Why is it so important to enter census information? Why can't I just enter what I know?
Our objective is to put you in contact with your relatives - and nobody else! When we find a
match you can be 100% certain that the person we've found is a relative of yours, and not someone merely
researching the same surname. This is possible only because the information you enter from the census pinpoints
a precise census page - so there can be no doubt that both you and the other member are referring to the same person.
Why were these Censuses chosen?
Indexes to the 1881 British Census (excluding Scotland), the 1881 Canadian Census, and the 1880 US Census can be accessed online free
of charge at the FamilySearch site. Because they can be accessed so easily more researchers use them, and this increases your chances
of finding a match!
Will other members be able to see the information I enter?
No - because our matching process is completely automatic, there's no need for others to see your data, and no need
for you to see theirs.
How do I search?
Once you have entered at least one of your relatives from the census a Search button will appear on this page. Click the
Search button, and within seconds you'll discover whether there are any new matches.
I'm looking for people who share my ancestors, so what's the point of entering someone who isn't in my direct line?
Our sophisticated matching system can identify other members who share your ancestry even if the ancestors you have in
common died or emigrated long before the census - but to do this we need as many clues as possible. Every relative you can
find on the census is a potential link to a 'lost cousin'.
