LostCousins Buddies

The LostCousins 'buddies' give their time and make use of their knowledge and experience to help other members. This free service has already solved problems and provided new leads for numerous members - here's just a selection of the nice things they've said:

“Celebrations - and all thanks to you. I have been hunting for over three years!” Joan A.

“Very many thanks for your help. You have achieved something in a few hours that I couldn't in weeks if not months.” Colin P.

“I think this idea of buddying is a brilliant one and as those of us who are new to researching become more experienced hopefully we can help others.” Yvonne W.

“I will certainly recommend your website to fellow family tree searchers as I think the buddy system is a great help, especially if researching abroad.” Trish J.

“As Victor Meldrew would have said, "I don't believe it!!" How fantastic, at last, at last, whoopeee! I can hardly wait until the morning to telephone my cousin and let him have this news, he too will be thrilled.” Maud J.

“Many, many thanks to George from me and my husband. That will help so much.” Muriel W.
“PS I think you're all wonderful”

“Many, many thanks for your inspired help - I think we may now have crossed the genealogical Rubicon back to the 18th century!” Michael B.

“Oh boy have you made me happy! Thank you so much for this info.” Alice N.

Whether you're new to family history, and don't know what to try next, or an experienced researcher who is up against a 'brick wall', the LostCousins buddies will do their best to help you! However, at the moment we're only able to offer research help and advice relating to Britain and Canada - though we'll be extending our service to include the USA as soon as we possibly can.

If you'd like some help from the LostCousins buddies, please email us at the usual address including the words HELP WANTED in the subject. Briefly summarise what it is you're trying to discover, and tell us what you already know, including details of relevant birth, marriage, or death certificates that you hold (but please don't send attachments unless specifically requested).

All we ask is that before contacting us you complete your My Ancestors page - because the best person to help you is someone who shares your ancestors - a 'lost cousin'.

If you take part in the buddy scheme your email address will not be revealed to other members. Only your first name will be used, and if you become a buddy you can choose an alias (perhaps one of your ancestors). If you're interested in becoming a buddy, and helping others, please email us and include the words HELP OFFERED in the subject.
